003: Automail Books Please!

Hehehe~~

I've only been here for a few days and I've already found a reason to stay here forever! Or at least until I learn to make my own treasure... Aahh~~ It's just so amazing! The more I read about it the more in love I am! It's not just a metal arm! It's an arm that's designed using knowledge of the human body! Every wire is placed carefully to make the connection of the nerves as realistic as possible and it even looks like the artificial muscles could be real!!! It's beautiful! A true work of art! Automail is amazing!!!

*sigh*

Anyways, I wanted to know if anyone here has any books on "automail" that I missed! Maybe someone else checked some of them out? I could also use some books on the nervous system and human anatomy... It'll probably be a lot of books now that I think about it....

So um...

Can anyone help me carry some to my room? Sorry to be such a pain...

Wow... You're, uh, pretty into this, aren't you?

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! I am! This is like everything I love all packaged into one amazing little bundle of metal!!!

Have you seen automail before?

[identity profile] future-defender.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Never actually heard the term, but from the sound of it, yeah, I have. One of the other residents has a prosthetic arm.

Anyway, if you need help carrying books, I'm willing and able.

You mean Ed, right? Yes, I met him! He introduced it to me! I wanna take his arm apart so badlyyyy.

And that'd be great! Thanks so much Trunks!

[identity profile] future-defender.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's him. He repaired my sword for me.

Don't mention it. Just lead the way.

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I never knew he could do that... Maybe he doesn't need a mechanic... if he can fix swords...

Oh right! This way!

[identity profile] future-defender.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
He used a type of ability I'm unfamiliar with, actually. I think he said they call it alchemy where he's from. Just a clap of the hands and my sword was good as new -- well, just a little more brittle, but that was easy enough to rectify at the blacksmith once I got the money.

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
I see... Amazing.
I wonder if he can use that to fix his automail... I hope not.

[identity profile] future-defender.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't tell you. You'd have to ask him that yourself.

...By any chance, would you two happen to be from the same place?

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? I don't think so... I've never seen him in my life and this is the first time I remember seeing automail...

[identity profile] future-defender.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, right. You just arrived, so you have no memories of your past. I just thought that, since you're into it so much, you might have been from the same world. I'm pretty sure we didn't have automail back where I come from, at any rate.

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I never considered that...
But I've never heard of automail before now... And I think I've always been interested in mechanics... I dunno... I'm just really excited about trying something new!

[identity profile] allthingstodust.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Simply point me in the direction and I'd be happy to be of assistance.

Is it this automail you need a hand with or some books?

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much!
It's just books right now. I wouldn't trust myself with the real thing until I understand it perfectly.

[identity profile] allthingstodust.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
That's quite the attitude. However, what about hands-on training?

*starts putting a lot of books into boxes*

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I only know one person with automail and he doesn't seem to want me to touch it... But if I learn a lot about it he might let me be his mechanic! I hope so, at least.

[identity profile] allthingstodust.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
If it's truly as delicate as you make it sound, I think I can understand why.

*heft* Where am I taking these?

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds like it can be delicate... It depends on how you make it. Some automail is light weight while other is tougher for fighting or something. And it sounds like it depends on the mechanic...

Ah! My room! Thanks so much! I'll lead the way!

[identity profile] allthingstodust.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I see. So different prosthetics can be used and essentially swapped out as the situation demands it?

*follows*

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. That's what it seems like!

[identity profile] allthingstodust.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
How interesting. When you're done with them, I think I'll have to take a look at these.

[identity profile] handsforhealing.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Would you really want to?! I'll have to make an extra good one to show you then!!!

[identity profile] allthingstodust.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
I would indeed like to. Even if such things didn't exist in my world, I think it can only be beneficial to learn of such things.
