Hey! Ed! Al! I got some food for a picnic! Come meet me by the lake, okay? And you'd better not be late!

[ Hears Al muttering but decides to stay quiet ]

And if you two ever need me to do anything for you just let me know, all right?

[He sweatdropped and laughed nervously.]

N-nothing at all, brother!

No problem, Ed! If I don't pitch in Al's going to live a horrible lifestyle. [ smiles so he knows she's teasing ]

Oh! I almost forgot. For dessert I made you two apple pie! I've been practicing since Christmas!

Oi, what's that supposed to mean?

[Grumbles, but cheers up on hearing about the dessert.]

Mm, sounds good.

[Al paused at the mention of apple pie, wondering if maybe the feeling in his chest meant anything. He was also quiet.]

It means that you probably live a sloppy lifestyle that I don't want rubbing off on Al, that's what.

[ Cuts the pie and offers them each a piece, then notices Al is quiet. ]

Something wrong, Al?

Sheesh, what's wrong with my lifestyle? I've even got a proper job this time and everything!

[And notices too]

Hey, Al, s'wrong?

[With both of them calling his name, he was jerked out of his thoughts.]

What? Sorry about that. My mind wandered for a moment.

[Doesn't want them to worry as he doesn't know what it was, so he gives them a smile.]

This time? What sort of job did you have "last time"?

[ oh well. Back to more important things, like Al. ]

You sure? If something's wrong you can tell us, okay?

Er, nothing! Forget I said anything!

It's just...I don't remember what apple pie tastes like, that's all. [He smiled.]

You had another job before you were a librarian? [Curious.]

Oh... well, now you know, right?

[ gives Ed a suspicious look and then sighs ]

Nah, not here.

[Waves his hands]

Just don't worry about it!

[Al poked his brother.]

Come on, you have to tell us. Now we're both curious!

[a bit firmly. Winry does not like secrets.] What was your job before, Ed?

Oi, it was back home! I was a State Alchemist! Sheesh, I told you it was nothing.

A State Alchemist? Does that mean you did alchemy for a living? [Al was excited about this information.]

[ While Winry was pleased to hear he got to do alchemy a lot, which seemed to be something he liked, she wasn't happy with what "State" implied. ]

Oh... I see.

Er, yeah! Basically! Cool, huh?

[Al noticed Winry's change in mood.]

Are you okay? [He put a hand on her shoulder.]

[ She notices that Ed seems to be trying to draw their attention away from the subject. And is makes her a bit sad too... So she decides to confront him privately. ]

Oh yeah! I'm fine! Just jealous! Ed gets to do something he loves for a living! I hope I can be a mechanic! Yeah!

[Confront with a wrench? >.>;]

Mecha otaku!

[But softens a little.]

Yeah, anyway, you'll be a great mechanic. Happy?

[There were a few things that Al wanted to talk to Ed about too; like about a certain laser he'd been told about. Yet it was too nice of a day, plus their first get together so he would save it for later. Finally he took a bite of apple pie, savoring it slowly.]

It's good, Winry! [He smiled at her.]

[ Winry sits back and looks up, smiling. ]

I'm glad we finally got out to have this picnic.
